Technique Junkies Design Team Treasure Hunt!!

Good morning all of you. This is the first stop on our December/January Design Team Treasure Hunt. We are all glad to have you come aboard looking for the TREASURE! Pat will have a wonderful prize for some lucky treasure hunter.

Vada used the Spritzed Stone from the Dec/Jan 2209 issue of the Technique Junkies newsletter. The stamps are from Alluring Impressions and from the December 2006 Club Scrap kit called Ivory Elegance.

Vada used alcohol markers from Studio 2 in these colors: True blue -, Grass Green, Jacaranda, and also used theCopic Colorless blender to "bleach out" the flesh parts. (A Copic blender pen does not really "blend" the colors but it removes color.) The size of the card is 5 1/4 inches square so this needed a 5 1/2 inch square envelope. The punches are from Martha Stewart and Emagination.

(from Judy) I love Artistic Outpost stamps! The rubber is so thick and it gives such a wonderful impression when you ink up which ever stamp you choose. I am so glad Artistic Outpost is a vendor/sponsor for Technique Junkies. Check the home page (http://www.patstamps.com/) to find the Artistic Outpost discount code for the month.

I chose stamps the set called The Outpost. I used my own cloud template to sponge colors for the sky. I colored my images with my Copic markers. I added some Flower Soft in varying fall colors to give an autumn look to the tree. Here is south central Pennsylvania we still have some beautiful leaves on the trees!

I used the technique Antique Glimmer Mist from the December/January issue of the TJ newsletter. I used Lipstick and Fired Brink Distress Inks - along with Tattered Angels Bronze Glimmer Mist to create the background paper. I love this technique! It is so easy to get a fabulous shimmery look. I used a Spellbinders Borderabilities to cut the bottom edge of the background paper.

Now you will want to travel on to Beth Norman's blog - http://www.sunflowers-dragonflies.ca/blog/ . The first letter to collect is T. Please remember that you must post your answer to Pat Huntoon by 9:00 AM EST Friday December 4, 2009.

If you have any problems with broken links - come back here and see some more fabulous projects from the rest of the Design Team!

Beth Norman

Kimm BT
Lisa Somerville
Manna Caffrey

and we end at Pat Huntoon 's Blog. The treasure this month will be 3 stamp sets (one each from Art Neko, Innovative Stamp Creations and Clear Artistic Stamps) and a paper pack from Club Scrap.

Happy Treasure Hunting!

Antiuqe Glimmer Mist - Penny Black kitten

I had one person tell me they couldn't open the attachment in my email so I thought I would put this on the TJ DT blog.

I am sure you are going to love this technique! I usually make several all at once since they are so easy to do and produce such wonderful results!

The link is now live so read about this wonderful technqiue and create some work. OK -- you can wait till you eat the turkey and all the fixings.

I colored the kitty and the butterflies with my Copic markers and used some Spellbinder die cuts for the background .

Enjoy!

Bowing Santa

I used the Faux Marble technique from the October issue of the TJ newsletter. I felt it complemented this image very nicely. After assembling my card I sprayed every with Tattered Angels bronze and aspen Glimmer Mist sprays.
I used my Copic markers to color in this sweet image from Our Daily Bread.
This card is one of several I have created to send to our Christmas card list recipients this year.
I love making Christmas cards and this image just called to me when I saw it the first time. However, I didn't give into the temptation to buy it until this summer.

Winter Scenic Season

I made another "Scene Silhouette" card using the set Scenic Season from Stampin' Up! I was tired of tearing paper to use for the clouds or hills background. So I used a Sharpie and drew "cloud humps" on a sheet of clear plastic I had saved from some packaging material -- possibly from a Cuttlebug embossing folder. These are great to save for a variety of tools -- even cutting them straight and using in your stamp positioner.

I started with white card stock. I sponged a variety of colors for the sky, sponged a light amount of a grayish blue for the snow at the bottom, inked up the trees with dark green, inked the snow line with the same grayish blue ink, and finally used a red marker and inked the bird. I added the sentiment at the bottom inked with black ink.

The sun is setting and it looks like it will be cold, crisp night!

Praying for You

I have really enjoyed the technique Scene Silhouettes from the August newsletter. This card uses the stamp set from Stampin' Up called Scenic Season but I cut off the words "Seasons Greetings" before I mounted the stamp. I could easily see this set becoming as absolutely versatile as the Lovely as A Tree set. So I didn't want to limit the use of this set to only Chrsitmas cards. I tore some computer paper to create the clouds and sponged colors a sunset and dusk fast approaching. I created grassy hill sides direct to paper using three different green ink spots and then sponging Soft Suede ink over the greens. I was inspired to create this card as I sat in church on Sunday. The words for one of the songs was overlayed on a sunset type of sky and I immediately thought of creating this card. I sponged the edge of the card with Not Quite Navy and then with Soft Suede inks. I am going to send this card to a friend who has recently had a serious health issue diagnosed. I hope you enjoy this card! It was fun to make.

Summer by the Sea

I know this doesn't look like a "fall" card but I have loved these summery, wispy images from Stampin' Up! Doesn't this make you want to head to the beach and avoid the cold that is coming -- at least to the northern climates of the USA!
I colored this image with my Copic markers. I have done a lot of work with those markers while I have been recuperating. I couldn't bring every thing upstairs to the recliner so I had to pick and choose what to have near me. I have also wanted to do more practicing with these markers.
I also added glittery highlights with my Sakura Stardust clear pen. It is too bad you can't see the highlights around all of the layers on the card. I even traced over the word "wish" with the pen.
Enjoy the cold -- and look forward to Spring and summer which will surely come. But not soon enough for me!

Burnished Background & Painted Puzzle

Hope y'all are having a wonderful start to your week this week! I also hope you are all enjoying life and the beautiful autumn season. Where I am, the leaves are starting to change their colours and the air is crisp and cold. Just little things I'm thankful for!

Here's a card using 2 techniques, Painted Puzzle, a bonus technique from CD #7 and Burnished Background from the October '09 issue. Both are fun techniques to be sure and the possibilities are endless. If you haven't gotten your latest CD release, I encourage you to do so. The bonus techniques on the CD will blow you away!

On my card, the stamp image on the puzzle is from Paperbag Studio. Background is from Stampin' Up! Click photo to enlarge. Enjoy!

Until next time, may mojo live happily in your heart, and may passion bloom in your soul. Be well!

Happy Birthday Artistic Outpost!

Artistic Outpost has such wonderful images! This year marks their second year manufacturing stamps for our creative use. They have a challenge now using a card sketch by Lisa Somerville. This card uses that sketch! Check out their blog for more information - including how to participate.
Copic markers were used to color this image. What you can't see is the use of Shimmering White paper from Stampin' Up and the use of my Sakura Gel pen - Stardust - to add a hint of shimmer around all of the edges. Faux Stitching, from the April 2006 Technique Junkies newsletter, adds some interest to my card. The stamps I used are from the Happiness Artistic Outpost set, and the words Happy Birthday from Polaroid Cutie. I burnished color around my image, message, and on the designer paper using a sponge and Crushed Curry ink from Stampin' Up.

Snow Buddies

Happy Wednesday!! I'm pleased to be sharing this cute project I made featuring the Sepia technique! What a great technique--currently featured in the TJ Newsletter!

My supplies are all from Stampin' Up! The base of my card is Kraft cardstock. I've also used Brocade Blue, Bravo Burgundy and Ultra Smooth White cardstock. All of my images are stamped in Chocolate Chip. The stamps are from Snow Buddies (Level 2 hostess set) and Sparkly and Bright.

The front panel, which is hard to see in the photo, has torn "snow" banks that are all glittered up! Can't have snow without a little bling!
I hope you've enjoyed my Sepia project and are inspired to try this awesome technique yourself!

TTFN, Jane

Colorwash Batik

It's fall in the Northern Hemisphere! As much as I hate to see summer fade away, I do love the colors associated with autumn. One of the techniques that shows off those colors---or any others, for that matter---is Colorwash Batik from the December 2006 TJ newsletter. Spray washes of any kind will work for this great technique, and your results will please you.

Leaves image ... a 10-year-old stamp from Embossing Arts Co. Sentiment from Impression Obsession.

Here is the background:

And here is the finished card. I went with a simple layout to leave as much of the background visible as possible. The moon image is from a retired Stampin' Up set called Stardust.

Now, go order your copy of CD7! You won't find this technique in any of the newsletters.

Have a great weekend.
