Morphed Crinkled Watercolors Tutorial

Good morning folks.  It's Beth Norman here with a variation of Pat's Crinkled Watercolors technique which she filmed in the June 2014 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.

When I saw this stamp I immediately envisioned an ombre or multi-coloured background, and I think Crinkled Watercolors did the trick.

The stamp I used is from the July 1st release called Dream Big.  As per usual the new release stamps are on sale for 15% percent off until July 8th.

Let's now visit my tutorial...

Supplies:  Non stick craft sheet (to protect your surface), paint pallette, white tissue paper, watercolor paper, brush, water and three tubes of watercolor.

Put three colors of watercolor into your pallete and liberally spritz, or pour, water into the wells to create a soupy mixture.  Stir your watercolors.
Spritz your watercolor paper with water.
Saturate your watercolor paper with your watercolors.  Wash your brush before you move onto the next color.

Your watercolor paper will be nice and wet.
Scrunch up your white tissue paper which will be placed over top of your watercolor paper.
Open up tissue paper and lay down onto watercolor paper.  Firmly press down and leave on for 2 to 3 minutes.  Peel off tissue paper.
Let your watercolor paper dry completely.  To speed up drying time you may use a heat gun, or you can leave to air dry.

I hope I've inspired you to try this technique.  Watercolors don't have to be expensive.  I bought an inexpensive package of 12 watercolours for $6.
